Planet Ubuntu, Quick thoughts

Where have all the good advertisers gone?

Microsoft and its “Scroogled!” campaign remind me of the Free Software Foundation a lot. Both are falling into oblivion, both are doing nothing to support some of their project, and both are topic of news because they decided to attack others instead of making cool things.

  1. The FSF is focusing less on writing new GNU software these days, and more on education and advocacy (as far as I can tell – I’m not even a member, much less a spokesman!).

(Reading a recent article in The H) If you consider responding to about six hundred education requests, investigating about four hundred reports of licensing issues, and pressing forward on numerous efforts to promote liberty as “fading into irrelevance”, then I suppose they are – but I think this says more about your priorities than about them. ;-)
